Come, Lord Jesus

As Your mercies, O Father, are new every morning,
Let my songs be new for Your glory.
May my mouth be filled with Your praise,
And may Your Name be Blessed now and forevermore.

King of Kings and Lord of Lords,
The fairest of all, my Saviour and God.
You are from Everlasting to Everlasting,
And Your Kingdom has no end.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come and take me Home,
To the place where there are no sorrows,
No tears, no toil, no sweat, no trials, no tribulations,
No sin, and no death.

Come Lord Jesus, and take me Home,
To that mansion sublime,
Through the Pearly Gates, on the Streets of Gold,
On the Sea of Glass, and to the Throne of Grace.

Blessed be the name O Lord,
Blessed be Your name.

Does God still speak to us? And How?

“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk in it, Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21.

Yes. God still speaks to us. The same God who spoke to Noah and told him to build an ark, the same God who spoke to Abraham and told him to leave his father’s house, the same God who told the 12 disciples to follow Him, the same God who asked Paul why he was persecuting Him? that same God through His Son Jesus Christ speaks to us today. The question however is are we listening to His voice? Now more than ever we desperately need to hear His voice and know His will for our lives.

God can speak to us however and whichever way it pleases Him, it ultimately depends on how He wants to communicate and make His will known to that Child of His. Nonetheless here are three primary ways God speaks to us today:

  1. Through His Word – The Bible:
The Bible is called God’s Word. I like how Uncle Angus Buchan, the South African preacher puts it – “The Bible is God in Print”.
So the primary means of God’s communication to His children is the Bible. The Bible has many promises, consequences, commandments, instructions, directly from God. It has many stories and testimonies for us to learn from, so as to not repeat the mistakes and sins committed by even great men and women of Faith.
The Bible is our “Daily Bread”, it is our Heavenly Manna, it is the Bread of Life. Read it daily, to know the mind of Christ, the Heart of God and the power of the Gospel.
  2. Through His Holy Spirit:
Jesus told His disciples before ascending to Heaven that He will send them the Helper, that Helper is the Holy Spirit. The same Helper is in us, i.e. in those who have put their trust and faith in God’s begotten Son – Jesus Christ, for their Salvation, to escape the wrath of God and to receive His forgiveness and everlasting life. This Holy Spirit of God will give us peace in times of storm, it will guide you and help you to take wise decisions and give you the perfect peace and joy before you take a decision in life. He will also convict you if you are heading outside the Will of God. Be still and know that He is God.
  3. Through your Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
Do not go to your brothers or sisters in Christ immediately after you face challenges or in case you need an advice… Jesus, must always be the first Person you go to in Prayer and through the meditation of His Word (reading the Bible). It could be that God will send a brother or sister in Christ to you with a Word of advice. Or after spending time in prayer, you may feel the need to speak to a brother or sister, to know their view about a particular situation. I remember (before receiving Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour) when I was reading and praying without ceasing, to know the truth, to get some peace, to know that there is hope for my future… When I was completely cast down, God sent a brother in Christ (my childhood friend), to share that message of Hope, the message of Everlasting Life in Christ Jesus, and that is when I decided to follow Jesus and stopped listening to other gloomy voices in my head.

Our ultimate purpose in life is to Glorify God. So let us spend more time in prayer, meditating on His Word and following the guidance of His Holy Spirit to remain in the perfect will of God.

Yet, I will Praise the Lord

Though trials and tribulations come,
Though fire and brimstone fall,
Though the tempest rise with hail or snow,
Yet, I will praise the Lord, for He hideth me under His wings.

Though the giants come with swords and spear,
Though they scorn with unbelief and smear,
Though they rise to slay me,
Yet, I will praise the God of my Salvation and lean on His everlasting arms.

Though the Enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy,
Though he cometh like a roaring lion, to devour my love, joy and peace,
Yet, I will praise the Lord, for HE restoreth my soul and the joy of my Salvation.

Through times uncertain,
Through deepest despair,
I will praise the Lord, for I know He holds my tomorrow,
And my future is secure.

“With him is an arm of flesh, but with us the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” 2 Chronicles 32:8.

Let not your heart be troubled

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go prepare a place for you.” John 14: 1 and 2.

Believer, let not your heart be troubled because Jesus repeatedly tells us to have faith in Him. He will indeed calm your troubled heart. Just ask Him, take your troubled heart to Him and He will give you rest, and perfect peace.

1 Peter 5:7 tells us, “Cast all your anxiety upon Him for He cares for you.”

Isaiah 26: 3 says, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

Put on the Helmet of Salvation, dear reader, and fill your mind with His Word. Ask God to give you the mind of Christ, and He will give you perfect Peace. Trust in the Lord and do not lean on your own understanding, and He will direct your path.

Jesus has already gone before you, to prepare a place for you. He has already gone before you to straighten the crooked paths, to defeat your enemies, to fight your battles, to bless you with streams in the desert and make road for you in the wilderness. Trust Him and He will do what is impossible for you. Is anything too hard for the Lord?

The year of Restoration, for those who Believe

“The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, My great army which I sent among you.” Joel 2: 24 and 25.

Believer, remember that in Jesus, every promise in the Bible is ours. “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” 2 Corinthians 2:14.

The lost years in your life will be restored. No matter what you lost, no matter where you are now and no matter what you have done, if it is in the perfect will of God, He will give it to you, you simply need to ask. If you doubt, then ask this one question that God Himself had once asked Abraham – “Is anything too hard for the Lord”? The answer my friend, is nothing, absolutely nothing is too hard for the Lord. It is possible for Him to give you every good thing, and He will indeed supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Just do not ask asmiss.

If you have not believed in God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and if you have not confessed with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him up from the dead, if you have not repented of your sins, and decided to turn to Jesus, then you are not His child and if not His child then you are not heir to His Kingdom, and these promises or any promise in the Bible, not even an Everlasting Life with Him is yours to claim. Try Jesus, turn to Him alone for the redemption of your sins, and see the Salvation of God.

Dear Father, I thank you for your Son Jesus Christ whom you sent to die for us, who shed every drop of His blood for the forgiveness and for the redemption of our sins and whom You raised from the dead on the third day. In this uncertain world Lord, you are our Certainty and Hope and in Jesus your Son we claim every promise in the Bible, even the restoration of the lost years of our lives. May your will be done Lord. In Jesus name. Amen.

Jesus Christ is the same Yesterday, Today, Forever

“Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8.

The same God who created the Heavens and the Earth, and formed you beautifully and wonderfully with His hands, the same God, will be with you in your tomorrows.

The same God who parted the Red Sea, made the Sun stand still, the same who was with the three Hebrews in the fiery furnace and with Daniel in the den of lions, the same God, the very God of the very God will also be with you tomorrow and always.

The same God who turned the water into wine, calmed the winds and the waves, healed the sick and raised the dead, will deliver you as you enter a new year.

The same God who raised you up and brought you thus far, the same God who helped you clear that exam, gave you that job, helped clear your bills and blessed you with many blessings. The same God will continue to bless you with many blessings even in the new year and forever more.

The same God who never gave up on you, even when your dearest and nearest ones gave up on you, the same God who was always by your side when all others left and abandoned you, the same God will wipe away your tears and promises to never leave or forsake you even in the future. He will be your Hope, your Future and Your Peace.

Dear reader, we do not know what tomorrow holds, but we sure know who holds our tomorrow. This same Jesus, who was with you and delivered you and provided for you thus far, the same Jesus will be with you tomorrow and forever.

Dear Father, we thank You for being with us thus far, for hearing our cry, answering our prayers, for rescuing us and delivering us every time we called out Your name. As we enter a new year, as we step into the unknown, we know that you are certain, the One who does not change, does not slumber nor sleeps. We know that You will always be our Shield, our Shelter, our High Tower, our Jehova Jireh, our Healer, our Physician, and our All in All. Help us rest in You, trust You and follow You always, and give us the Grace we need and Your Power and enable us to deny ourself, take up our cross daily and follow You. Help us to shine our light so bright that the people around us will see You in us and glorify Your name alone. In Jesus name, Amen!

Jesus has gone before you

“And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him…. Then Jesus said to them, do not be afraid. Go and tell my brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.” Matthew 28:7 and 10.

In this chapter we see the angel and then Jesus himself telling the women (Mary Magdalene one of them) to go and tell His disciples to go to Galilee and there they will meet with Jesus.

We may recall that even in the sea of Galilee, Jesus sent His disciples ahead of Him, to go to the other side, and there in that sea they were caught in the storm and Jesus calmed the storm, and the disciples worshiped Jesus.

If today Jesus is telling us to go to the other side or if He is telling us to go to Galilee, we must, because He has already gone ahead of us and has prepared the way for us to meet Him there. If we are caught in the storm, just know that Jesus will calm the storm and we will experience His power and worship Him there.

Let us not worry about the unknown, if Jesus told us to go on the other side, let us go to the other side for we will indeed be on the other side, and we will meet our Lord there. If He has told us to go to Galilee, let us go to Galilee, for Jesus has gone before us and we will meet Him there.

Be of good cheer dear reader, our Lord has promised and He will keep His promise and we will praise Him.

Dear Lord, we don’t know what is on the other side, but if you have told us to go on the other side, we will go, for you will meet us there. And if we face the storms in the middle, you will come its midst and calm the storms and take us safely on the other side. Help us to trust in You alone and not hear any other misleading voices. To You alone O Lord be all glory and honour, now and forever. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen!

Lord Save Me!

Save me from my rage

Save me from this bitterness and hate

Save me from my enemy within and the sudden destruction he brings

Save me from myself

And Heal Me Lord!

Heal me from all my afflictions and pain

If only I touch the hem of your garment, Lord if only You speak a Word…

I know I will be healed. I am healed!

I have put my trust in Thee!

There is none like THEE, O LORD!
YOU are ever so WONDERFUL, forever FAITHFUL,
“THY loving KINDNESS is better than LIFE.”

Whom have I, but THEE, in this world and in the UNSEEN!
YOU are my FRIEND, my FIRST LOVE, my ALL.
Ever beside me, my BATTLE SHIELD, my COMFORTER, my GOD, my SAVIOUR YOU are!

For me a sinner, YOU came!
Not as KING (which YOU are), not as PRINCE or PRIEST (which also you are),
But, a mere SERVANT, humble and lowly you became,
That I who was lost be found,
And blind, who could see.

YOU are the CHRIST, the MESSIAH!
The SON of GOD, the CREATOR.
Who suffered and died, shed HIS innocent blood,
To wash away my SINS, and make me FREE forever.

To be my FATHER, my FRIEND, my ALL
So I could be with YOU, now and FOREVERMORE (through eternity)!

Inquire of God, again and always

“Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, ‘you shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.” 1 Chronicles 14:14

There is a reason God called David, a man after His own heart. David inquired of God time and again, for everything. Before attacking his enemies, even before setting up a strategy to defeat his enemies, while fleeing from his arch enemy etc. David always inquired of God, and God would tell him what to do, sometimes not always he had planned, like in this verse quoted above.

You know, many a times we want to hear from God what we want to hear or what our flesh wants us to do. AW Tozer puts it plainly, “Most Christians don’t hear God’s voice because we have already decided we are not going to do what He tells us to do.” This is so true. If you remember the story of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah (another king after David who would often inquire of God), when he visited Ahab, the king of Israel, we see that Ahab did not like to hear the voice of God because it went contrary to his fleshly desires. So God had to send a lying spirit to him to tell him what he wanted to hear and to persuade him to go to war. God did speak to him that day through Micah whom Ahab despised and imprisoned, but he chose to listen to those lying spirits that resulted in Ahab’s death.

So you see, if you want to truly hear God’s voice, you must be truly willing to obey His commands and do His will even when it goes against our flesh. And if we are willing to truly obey God at all cost, God will speak and we will hear His voice.

And how does God speak to us today? Mainly through His Word – The Bible, He may confirm His word to you through circumstances, through people, perhaps even through dreams, but He will not contradict His word, His Command or His promises. So ask God to give you His discerning Spirit and a willingness to obey Him at any cost.

Dear Father, please give me a willing heart and obedient heart, for obedience is more important to You than sacrifice. And help me to hear your voice and obey you at any cost, even when it goes against my fleshly desires. For you Lord, in all things and at all times desires to give me you best and glorify Your name through my life. In Jesus name, Amen!
