Inquire of God, again and always

“Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, ‘you shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.” 1 Chronicles 14:14

There is a reason God called David, a man after His own heart. David inquired of God time and again, for everything. Before attacking his enemies, even before setting up a strategy to defeat his enemies, while fleeing from his arch enemy etc. David always inquired of God, and God would tell him what to do, sometimes not always he had planned, like in this verse quoted above.

You know, many a times we want to hear from God what we want to hear or what our flesh wants us to do. AW Tozer puts it plainly, “Most Christians don’t hear God’s voice because we have already decided we are not going to do what He tells us to do.” This is so true. If you remember the story of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah (another king after David who would often inquire of God), when he visited Ahab, the king of Israel, we see that Ahab did not like to hear the voice of God because it went contrary to his fleshly desires. So God had to send a lying spirit to him to tell him what he wanted to hear and to persuade him to go to war. God did speak to him that day through Micah whom Ahab despised and imprisoned, but he chose to listen to those lying spirits that resulted in Ahab’s death.

So you see, if you want to truly hear God’s voice, you must be truly willing to obey His commands and do His will even when it goes against our flesh. And if we are willing to truly obey God at all cost, God will speak and we will hear His voice.

And how does God speak to us today? Mainly through His Word – The Bible, He may confirm His word to you through circumstances, through people, perhaps even through dreams, but He will not contradict His word, His Command or His promises. So ask God to give you His discerning Spirit and a willingness to obey Him at any cost.

Dear Father, please give me a willing heart and obedient heart, for obedience is more important to You than sacrifice. And help me to hear your voice and obey you at any cost, even when it goes against my fleshly desires. For you Lord, in all things and at all times desires to give me you best and glorify Your name through my life. In Jesus name, Amen!

HE Will Rescue You

“Therefore say to the children of Israel: I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments… And I will bring you into the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; and I will give it to you as a heritage: I am the Lord.” Exodus 6: 6 and 8.

The Lord is telling you the same, He will indeed rescue you and deliver you from every satanic bondage. You need only need to ask and cast all your burdens to Him; And He who hears your cry, will deliver you.

One of my favourite Bible verses, infact, it’s a promise from Psalms 50:15, “Call unto me in the day of trouble, I will save you and you will praise Me.”

Each time I was in trouble, each time I needed to be rescued, I reminded my Heavenly Father about this promise, and I tell you, each time He came to my rescue and delivered my out of all my troubles. Praise the Lord.

Dear Father, I pray that whoever is reading this and if he/she is under any bondage, whether financial, spiritual or physical, or even under any demonic stronghold, I pray, you come to their rescue and deliver them from all their troubles and every kind of bondage. You save them and let them praise You. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!

Lift Up Your Eyes

“And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are – northward, southward, eastward and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.” Genesis 13:14-15.

God further tells Abram in Genesis 13:17, “Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.”

Our God is a wonderful comforter. Abram was close to his nephew Lot, so the separation from his brother’s son did hurt him. But God was with Abram. After Lot took the best of the land and left Abram with a wasteland, the Lord comforts Abram and reminds him of His promise to Abram and his descendants.

The same God is with us. Probably you are in similar position as Abraham was, you helped a friend, a relative, a brother, and it left you in pain, in an uncertain situation. But God is with you.

No matter where you are and what situation you are in, our Heavenly Father is telling you today, lift up your eyes and look from where you are – northward, southward, eastward and westward. You are more precious to Him than sparrows, now even more so when you are His child. He is telling you that all the promises in the Bible are yours, you need to walk through it, claim it and believe it, for the Lord, our Father, promises to give it to us.

Dear Father, I thank you for your wonderful promises in the Bible. Today I claim them, and receive them by Faith in your Son Jesus Christ. You O Lord are the same, yesterday, today and forever. In Jesus name. Amen!

He who finds a wife…

“He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains the favour from the Lord.” Proverbs 18:22.

This verse, like every other in the Bible, is so true. The Lord’s favour increases manifold for His son, to take care of his wife, to provide for her, nourish her, cherish her, to protect her and to love her. Even in times that we are in today, we know we have His favour and that He is still in control.

I have experienced this favour. Quite frankly the Lord gave me much more than what I asked for and much more than what I actually deserved. Even today, when the economy is down and things are not looking bright, the Lord has taken good care of me, and is helping me take good care of my wife.

Today, dear reader, I want you to know that no matter what you are going through, the favour of the Lord is with you, and He will meet your needs according to His riches. Don’t lose hope and don’t lose faith. “Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5

Dear Father, Thank you for meeting our needs according to your riches, thank you for giving us more than we have asked for and for meeting our needs according to Your riches in Heaven. Thank you that in this world we are not alone, but You are with us, by our side all the time. To You and You alone O Lord be all glory and honour, now and forevermore. Amen!

Come to the Throne of Grace Boldly

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16.

By the grace of God and through our faith in Jesus Christ alone, God has given us the privilege and the right to go right upto the Throne of Grace to obtain His mercy and grace and make our requests known to Him. Jesus too has repeatedly told us to ask the Father whatever we need in His name and the Father will give it to us. Therefore we can now go directly and boldly to the Father’s Throne of Grace and ask whatever we need and receive His grace, mercy and favour.

This is similar to Esther, she entered the king’s court without his permission for a specific need, and the king raised his scepter and saved her life and granted her request. Esther being the queen, could not enter the king’s throne boldly, she literally risked her life. But thanks to the perfect work of Jesus, His death and resurrection and our faith in Jesus alone, for our salvation, we are now children of God, and heirs in His Kingdom, and therefore we need to fear for our life, but can come boldly and confidently to the Throne of Grace and make our requests known to God the Father.

So let us make good use of this privilege that God has given us, while we still can, and let us know our Lord more intimately and personally. Let us come to His Throne of Grace boldly, not only to meet our needs, but also for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, and even for those that are lost in the pleasures of this world.

Dear Father, thank you for giving us the privilege to come to your Throne, and to come boldly and ask whatever we need in Jesus name, and we know that you will grant our request, according to your perfect will and plan for our life. We pray that you help us recognise what a great privilege you have given us and to make good use of it, not only for us and our families, but even more for those that are lost. To You O Lord be all glory and honour, now and forevermore. Amen!

Like a Thief in the Night

“For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.” 1 Thessalonians 5:2.

We ought to live every day, all the time, knowing that our Lord will come at anytime. Like a thief in the night, our Lord will come at an unexpected time, so let us be ready, let us be watchful dear reader, lest we be caught unaware.

While the world is busy in hate, immorality, self righteousness, a child of God is mindful of the things above. He spends more time with the Lord, conversing with Him, in Spirit and in Truth, casting all cares upon Him, and most importantly being more like Jesus to this lost world.

Let us be watchful and bear fruits worthy of repentance, let us also bear the fruit of righteousness and the fruit of the Spirit (which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control), so that we become good ambassadors of Christ and warn the lost and our near and dear ones, that our Bridegroom is on His way to take His Bride.

Dear Father, prepare us to meet you, and while we are still on earth, help us to be more like you and be your good ambassadors to the lost. In Jesus name, Amen!

Is there anything too difficult for the Lord?

“Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.” Jeremiah 32:17.

Dear reader, today no matter what challenges, difficulties, impossibilities, hopelessness etc. you must be going through, just ask one question to your soul, is there anything too hard for the Lord? The answer to this question is a big No! Nothing, absolutely nothing is too difficult for Him. “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” Luke 18:27. Casting all your cares on Him for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7.

These Bible verses are quite clear and in plain language, Jesus cares for you and therefore cast all your cares, worries, anxieties, challenges, fears, impossibilities upon Him. Cry out to Him, remind our Lord His promises, worship Him and praise Him. And He who knows your name and He who knew you even before the foundation of the earth, will come to your rescue. He will walk with you and not let you be burnt, He will not let you be drowned, but He will walk with you through the fire, through the waters and bring you out of them all as He promised in His Word. Know this, God is not man that He should lie, He promised and He will deliver, but dear reader, you must also do your part, which is trust in Him, confess and repent of your sins, and if you are not His, then first come to Him and believe in God’s only Son, Jesus Christ whom He sent to lay down His life for you, for the redemption and forgiveness of your sins, and also believe that God raised Him from the dead on the third day.

Take all things to God in prayer and worship Him in Spirit and Truth.

Dear Father, we come to you in Jesus name and ask you to keep your Word and rescue us from our troubles, and help us overcome our challenges. Lord, we praise You, for You never leave us nor have forsaken us, but are walking with us through this fire and water without allowing us to be burnt or drowned. Thank you Father for bring us through this all and refining us to through this all. In Jesus mighty name, Amen!

Pray Without Ceasing

“Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18.

What does it mean to pray without ceasing? Does prayer always require us to close the door, get on our knees? Do we have to be in a Church to pray? The answer is a big NO! Praying without ceasing is simply like breathing. Do you cease to breathe? No! unless of course the person is not alive anymore. So also, a believer in Christ, prays to the Father continuously, always, without ceasing. You pray to the Father when walking to your nearby store, when taking a walk or run, you talk to Him when taking a bath, you talk to Him when at work, you talk to Him about your work, you talk to Him when you are in the crowd, you talk to Him when alone or when you feel lonely. In short, you talk to Him all the time.

Talk to Jesus as if He is right next to you, indeed He is right next to you. Talk to Him, pour out your heart to Him, tell Him things you cannot even share with your closest companion. And thank Him in all things, for this is the will of God.

Dear reader, when you get that promotion, or when something good or bad happens, that sudden rush of emotions when you feel, instead of immediately calling your spouse or friend or colleague, first dial your Heavenly Father, your true Friend – Jesus Christ. Tell Him first and then take it to the rest.

Praying without ceasing is talking to God knowing that He is right next to you, in person. Praise Him, thank Him for all that He has done for you and for all that He is doing for you right now. Know for certain, when you shed that silent tear, He will be that shoulder for you to cry on, when you laugh and are excited about that promotion, He will celebrate with you. Whatever it is, He will be there for you and He will be with you, in all season, at all time, without taking any appointment.

Dear Lord, thank you for always being there for me. Lord, I praise you for who you are – the King of kings and Lord of lords, the maker of heaven and earth, my Lord and Saviour. Lord we ask you to help us to pray without ceasing, and giving you thanks in everything. Help us to have that intimate person relationship with you and be ready to me you on that great and awesome day of our Lord. In Jesus name, Amen!

God is calling you

Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” – Genesis 3:9.

Often we cry out to God, “Where are you, Lord?” Why me Lord? I believe it is God who is calling for us, it is He who is calling our name, and it is us who fail to listen to His voice. If like Adam, we are hiding from Him, then dear reader, know that God already knows where we are hiding. Nothing absolutely nothing is hidden from Him. Even darkness is like light before Him. Whether you hide in the heavens, or in the depths of the earth or even under the earth, our Lord sees us. He knows our every thought, even before we utter a word in our mouth, even before we think a thought in our mind, He knows it all.

So, if today we are hiding from Him, let us immediately, come to the Light, and confess and repent of our sins to Him and He will immediately forgive us and wipe our slate clean. And if we haven’t yet believed in His only Son, Jesus Christ, then let us believe with all our hearts that Jesus is the Son of God who died for us, shed every drop of His blood for the forgiveness and remission of our sins, and believe that God raised Him us from the dead, and that Jesus will come again, but this time to judge the whole world. So that we can come boldly to the Throne of Grace to obtain God’s mercy and grace.

“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. ” Romans 10:9.

Dear reader, cry out to God, confess and turn away from all your sins and strive to live an upright life through Christ Jesus. Tell the Lord, here I am, use me for Your glory, and use me to contribute for the expansion of Your Kingdom.

Loving Heavenly Father, Here we are, use us for Your glory and help us contribute for the expansion of Your glorious Kingdom. In Jesus mighty and precious name. Amen!

Forgive and you shall be forgiven

Matthew 6:14-15: “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

Forgiving and forgetting the trespasses of someone, especially if that someone is close to you, is very difficult. It is difficult because it goes against our flesh. Our flesh keeps reminding us what they did to us, how they hurt us, and our flesh wants us to remind them what they did to us and how they hurt us. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41.

I have for long struggled with forgiving someone close, someone that really hurt me. It made be bitter and hate that person to the core of my heart, but I have made a choice, by the grace of God, to forgive them and am asking God to help me forget that pain and their trespasses, as He forgave and forgot my sins. Holding onto a grudge, being bitter, only hurts us, the “offender” is often rejoicing and isn’t even aware what you are going through because of them. But God knows, which is why He wants us to forgive them and let go of that pain.

Remember, on that cross, Jesus, forgave the very people and all of us, who were the reason for His suffering, wounds, and death. He forgave us, and when He forgives, He wipes our slate clean and remembers our sins no more. Through the death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour – Jesus Christ, we are now made a new creation, the old has passed, behold all things are new. All we have to do is receive Him into our life and repent of ours sins and strive to be more like Jesus.

Yes, dear reader, let us learn to forgive our enemies and especially those near and dear ones who wounded us. Give your pain to Jesus, take it all to the Lord in prayer. Yes, it’s difficult for us to forgive, but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us – Phillipians 4:13. Forgiving them will set us free, it will restore the joy of our Lord and it will only help us be more like Jesus.

Dear Father, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us, He forgave us our sins and iniquities, so also, help us forgive those who sinned and trespassed against us. We cannot do this on our own dear Lord, you can, so please help us, give us the grace and power and enable us to love our enemies, to pray for those who have spitefully used us and grieved us. We ask this in Jesus mighty and precious name. Amen!
